Deputies seize more than 100 pot plants

Deputies responding to reports of a man who shot a vicious dog in San Bernardino County discovered a large marijuana plot with plants as high as 8 feet tall, authorities said Monday night.
The shots were fired by the man after his dog was attacked by another dog that escaped from the property in 23100 block of Minnetonka Road in Apple Valley, authorities said.
While investigating the shooting, the deputies found 188 pot plants on the property and four pounds of processed marijuana. The plants ranged from 4 feet to 8 feet tall, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said. Authorities obtained a search warrant for the property.
The growing operation “was not in compliance with California’s medical marijuana laws,” department authorities said in a statement.
Authorities said the dog that was shot at escaped, but another vicious dog guarding the plants was taken by animal control officers.
