Amber Alert issued for 5-year-old boy from National City

An Amber Alert was issued Sunday for a 5-year-old boy said to have been abducted Saturday night in National City, south of San Diego.
The boy, Johnnie Melendez, was last seen wearing a Batman T-shirt, striped boxer shorts and slippers with SD printed on them, the California Highway Patrol said. He is described as 4 feet tall, weighing 80 pounds.
The suspect is the boy’s mother, Gladys Suarez, 27, described as 4-feet-11, 190 pounds, possibly wearing a black tank top and blue Capri pants.
If Suarez or Johnnie is spotted, people are asked to call the National City Police Department at (619) 336-4411.
No vehicle information is available, the CHP said.
