A bank robbery suspect carjacked a taxi which he then crashed head-on with another car Friday afternoon in Santa Ana, according to police.
A Union Bank in the 15500 block of Brookhurst Street in Westminster was robbed around 3 p.m., police said.
The suspect flagged down a taxi and rode as a passenger for a while until police tried to pull the cab over, police said.
At that point, the driver got out and the suspect took off with the car, which he crashed into another car carrying multiple people near Fairview Street and Edinger Avenue, police said.
The suspect has been taken into custody.
The condition of the other car’s occupants was not immediately known.
