A 75-year-old blind man was found decapitated Thursday inside an apartment in Inglewood, officials said.
Robert Hollis of Inglewood was decapitated, but further information about his death will not be released, said Lt. David Smith of the L.A. County coroner’s office.
Family members told KABC-TV and KNBC-TV that Hollis was blind.
Officers went to the 800 block of Glenway Drive about 12:45 p.m. to assist L.A. County firefighters, who were checking on Hollis’ welfare, Inglewood police said.
Homicide investigators are looking into Hollis’ death but have not released any details. Police said no arrests have been made.
Family members told KABC-TV that police were searching for a suspect and for Hollis’ head.
Hollis’ death marks the 12th homicide in Inglewood in the last 12 months, according to the L.A. Times Homicide Report.
The last homicide occurred May 4, when Jose Ernesto Ruiz, 29, was shot to death in Inglewood, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
