A Metro bus carrying 15 passengers jumped the curb and slammed into a tree in Westwood Village early Saturday after the driver apparently blacked out, authorities said.
The driver and four passengers suffered minor injuries and were taken to the hospital for observation, said Lt. Raymond Marquez of the Los Angeles Police Department.
The unidentified driver of the bus appears to have blacked out, Marquez said. He said that neither alcohol nor drugs appear to have been a factor in the incident but that blood tests are being conducted.
He said it’s also possible the driver could have fallen asleep.
The crash occurred shortly after 2 a.m. in the 10600 block of Wilshire Boulevard.
