An El Monte man already charged with molesting five children at two churches over four years may have additional victims, police said Wednesday.
Johnny Beserra III, 20, was arrested May 24 after an investigation that identified five alleged victims. However, an ongoing investigation has discovered there may be others.
The Los Angeles County district attorney’s office has filed 14 counts of lewd acts with a child, sodomy and oral copulation against Beserra, according to El Monte police.
Victims included children of both genders and those in elementary, middle and high school, said El Monte police spokesman Chris Williams.
The five victims allegedly were molested at United Pentecostal Church and El Monte Christian Academy. Both are located at 11129 Brockway St. in El Monte.
Because of the four-year span of time over which the alleged acts occurred, investigators are concerned there might be other victims in the community, Williams said.
Anyone with information regarding the case was asked to call El Monte police at (626) 580-2154.
