Authorities on Saturday were searching for a hit-and-run driver involved in a fatal collision in Moreno Valley, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
A 32-year-old man was killed Friday night when he was struck by a dark-colored SUV as he walked in the eastbound lanes of Alessandro Boulevard east of Kitching Street around 6:45 p.m., authorities said.
He died at the scene. The county coroner later identified the victim as Andrew Delgado of Moreno Valley.
The SUV fled east after the crash, said sheriff’s Deputy Patty Stoyer. Authorities were looking for a black, older model four-door SUV with a square back and extensive front-end damage -- possibly a Ford Explorer or Bronco, she said.
The eastbound and westbound lanes of Alessandro Boulevard between Kitching and Lasselle streets were closed for roughly six hours Friday while Moreno Valley police investigated the collision.
Moreno Valley police are asking anyone with information about the crash to contact them at (951) 486-6900 or after hours at (951) 776-1099.
