Divers find evidence of second victim in Pyramid Lake accident

Law enforcement authorities said Tuesday that evidence indicates a second man was on a boat that sank in Pyramid Lake and claimed the life of a 52-year-old West Covina man.
Rich Tanovan was found by deputies Sunday floating near the partially submerged vessel on the south end of the lake, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said.
Tanovan was about 15 feet from shore and was tangled in foliage and apparently drowned, department officials said Tuesday.
Department rescue divers have been scouring the lake in search of a possible second victim. On Tuesday, the department said family members of 64-year-old Jack Thirasack told investigators that he had gone to the lake with Tanovan.
“Thirasack’s fishing license was found in the water on Sunday, near the partially submerged boat that was about 30 yards from the shore,” officials said in a statement.
Officials said Thirasack is a Baldwin Park resident and was friends with Tanovan.
Department divers are scheduled Wednesday to resume their search. They have been using sonar equipment, air bags and an underwater cadaver dog.
