A retired Los Angeles County fire captain is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday on two child sex abuse charges involving a relative.
Edward John Cervantes, 62, of Whittier, is facing charges of committing a lewd act upon a child and continuous sexual abuse.
Cervantes was arrested Sept. 19 after the alleged victim told authorities she had been repeatedly molested when she was in the fifth and sixth grades.
Prosecutors say the lewd acts occurred from 2003 to 2005.
Cervantes is free on $250,000 bail. He faces up to 24 years in prison if found guilty on all charges.
