Los Angeles Fire Department rescue divers pulled a victim from murky waters off Terminal Island on Monday afternoon after a vehicle used to pull cargo plunged into the water.
The utility tractor, a self-enclosed vehicle that looks like a big-rig cab, plunged into the water shortly after 3 p.m. at the Evergreen Terminal at the Port of Los Angeles, a Fire Department spokesman said.
Department SCUBA divers responded and launched a search operation. There was zero visibility in the water, the department said.
A victim was pulled out of the water a short time later and was receiving emergency care on an LAFD fire boat, the department said.
It was not immediately clear how the tractor ended up in the water.
