A civilian laundry supervisor accused of bringing narcotics into a jail facility in Castaic was taken into custody Tuesday morning, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Juan Ortiz, 55, was arrested about 5 a.m. at the Pitchess Detention Center’s south facility by detectives from the sheriff’s Internal Criminal Investigations Bureau, according to a department statement.
There are four facilities at the detention center. The south facility houses about 1,400 low- to medium-security inmates, according to the sheriff’s website.
Investigators accuse Ortiz of bringing drugs into the detention center’s facility. Ortiz, who has worked for the Sheriff’s Department for 13 years, resigned from his position shortly after his arrest, officials said.
Ortiz was booked at the sheriff’s Santa Clarita jail in lieu of $30,000 bail.
