Reader Photo: Kelp forest kayaker
While hiking Santa Cruz Island, Hadley Johnson spotted a lone yellow streak traversing the blue of the ocean and green of the kelp forest.
Johnson, who was attending a photo workshop on the island, was standing on a bluff overlooking Scorpion Anchorage and watching the many kayakers enjoying a mid-morning paddle below.
He waited for just one to enter his frame.
“I wanted to focus on this single kayaker because the color of his kayak really stood out against the ocean colors and the color of the kelp,” he said.
Johnson used a Sony Alpha 6000 to make the image.
