Readers React: Holding up Loretta Lynch is government by blackmail

To the editor: Now that Republicans are in control of both houses of Congress, it’s interesting how often bipartisan bills are sabotaged — with last-minute inclusions Democrats can’t agree to. (“McConnell threatens to delay vote on attorney general nominee Loretta Lynch,” March 15)
By holding up the appointment of Loretta Lynch as attorney general by demanding that the Democrats first vote to pass a bill on human trafficking that contains a controversial abortion provision, Senate Republicans have gone a step further. What we have is government by blackmail.
