Readers React: False theology and ‘death with dignity’
- Share via
To the editor: Thank you for Steve Lopez’s column on the “death with dignity” movement. I am a Catholic and former priest who is saddened by the church’s stance on this issue. (“Death-with-dignity movement springs back to life in California,” Sept. 30)
At 81, I fear ending my life with a terminal illness and especially being unconscious, unable to decide how to die. My biggest worry, even more than pain, is racking up medical bills that bankrupt my family.
I believe this issue involves a false theology that depicts a small God who micromanages our lives and our world.
