ISSUE: INDEPENDENT CONTRACT AGREEMENTS
Vote: 5-0
Summary: The board approved two new independent contracts Tuesday
-- one for psychologist Peter Ruthernbeck, the other for speech
pathologist Nine Welch.
Ruthernbeck bills the district $125 per hour for his services. The
district will limit his expenditures to $4,000.
Welch is licensed by the state in speech pathology and has obtained her
certificate of clinical competence from the American Speech/Language and
Hearing Assn. She will develop and monitor programs for moderately to
severely disabled students with language difficulties. She bills the
district $85 per hour for her services. The district will also limit
expenditures for her services to $4,000.
ISSUE: MARIAN BERGESON AWARD
Vote: 5-0
Summary: The board voted to consider nominations for the Marian Bergeson
Award to recognize trustees.
The award was created by the Orange County School Boards Assn. in 1974
and is awarded every year to a trustee who provided outstanding governing
board service. The deadline for submissions is March 3, and the winner
will be honored at an awards ceremony May 3. No Huntington Beach trustee
has ever won.
