Magic gets past Grizzlies

The Magic moved a step closer to completing an unbeaten regular

season Sunday by defeating the Grizzlies, 40-31, in Fountain Valley

National Junior Basketball boys Division I action held at Fountain Valley

High.

Nguyen Dau scored 12 points and Ricky Hagen finished with 11, and both

came up with five steals, as the Magic improved to 9-0.

Both Kevin Ferraro and Michael Entin scored 11 points to lead the

Grizzlies.

DIVISION 2

Red Storm 43, Spurs 36

The Red Storm withstood a tough challenge from the Spurs and used a

second half rally to improve their record to 9-0. Samer Haddad scored 16

points and Corey Ferraro added 10 for the Red Storm, who used a balanced

team attack to net the comeback victory.Lakers 54, HB Seahawks 15

Scott Sorenson scored 11 points, Logan Martina scored 10, and Jim

Flanagan added eight points to go along with 12 rebounds and six blocked

shots as the Lakers (8-1) reached their highest point total of the

season.

DIVISION 3

Bulls 38, Sonics 21

Tyler Freleaux scored 19 points, grabbed nine rebounds, and had four

steals, Freddie Pepper netted nine points to go along with eight steals

and six rebounds, and Daeniel Francisco had nine rebounds and three

steals as the first-place Bulls won this matchup between a pair of 7-1

teams. It was the second win over the Sonics this season for the Bulls,

who had climbed back into the division race on Jan. 23 by handing the

previously-unbeaten Westminster Lakers their first loss of the season,

64-18.
