SKETCHING CLASS
Beginning sketching classes will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Fridays through Aug. 12 at Lang Park, Wesley Drive and South Coast

POETRY WORKSHOP
A free poetry workshop will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. at Laguna
Beach Public Library, 363 Glenneyre St. Poets of all experience
levels are welcome. Participants should bring at least 10 copies of a

SUNDAY
ADULT BASKETBALL
The public is invited to play ball at Laguna Beach High School.
Full-court pickup games are played in the school’s gym from 9 a.m. to
noon Sundays. Many former high school and college players
participate. The games are sponsored by the city’s recreation
department. Cost is $2 at the door.
Al FRESCO ENTERTAINING DEMO
Laguna Culinary Arts will host a free demonstration on al fresco
cooking from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Festival of the Arts, 650 Laguna
Canyon Road. The series will feature grille menus for easy outdoor
entertaining and a chance to sample foods and take home recipes.

SUMMER ENGLISH COURSE
The Laguna Beach Unified School District adult program for
learning English as a second language will be held 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Mondays through Fridays in room 90 at 550 Bluemont St. The class is

BIBLE STUDY
Word Study Laguna Beach, a community nondenominational,
nonexclusive Bible study, will hold meetings at noon at the Calvary
Evangelical Free Church. Word Study Laguna Beach is an independent
ministry of Word Study International and meets weekly from noon to 1
p.m. in the church at 468 Legion St. All are welcome to participate
in the short lesson, small groups, praying and sharing. Information:

BRAILLE SEMINAR
A six-week seminar on Braille for those who have vision loss will
be held weekly from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the Veteran’s Memorial
Community Center, 384 Legion St. Kimberly Block, field services
coordinator at the Braille Institute, will discuss the free programs
and services that are available. Block will give instruction on how
to perform daily tasks, utilize resources, marking and labeling

SWASHBUCKLING 101
The Laguna Playhouse Summer Institute presents an introductory
course in the art of swordplay for teenagers ages 13 to 18 from 6:30
to 8:30 p.m. at the Laguna Playhouse Annex, 606 Laguna Canyon Road.

YOGA
New Mind New Body, a yoga class for adults age 55 and older, will
be held from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. and 6:15 to 7:15 p.m. Tuesdays in the

SHOW CLASSES
No Square Theater will offer five different series of
instructional classes on Broadway performance. Classes will be held
on Monday and Wednesday afternoons at the No Square Rehearsal Studio,

GAY AND LESBIAN MEETING
Laguna Outreach, a gay and lesbian group, will hold a general
meeting featuring a presentation by the Orange County Gay and Lesbian

The Laguna Beach Peace Vigil meets every Saturday from 11 a.m. to

South Coast Music Together is hosting classes for children on

OPEN GATHERINGS
Open Gatherings is a local movement that draws people together
from all faiths and nonfaiths to explore topics of spirituality,
relationships and personal ethics. Tari Lennon is taking a trip
around the world during the summer, and updates of her travels and
experiences will be posted on www.opengatherings.com. Open Gatherings
will be led by the Rev. Tari Lennon and will be held starting in
October, on the last Friday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Unitarian

DOCENTS NEEDED
Docents are needed for the Hortense Miller Garden in Laguna Beach.
People come from all over the world to see this Laguna landmark. The
commitment is usually for one or two garden tours a month. An all-day

COMPUTER KIDS
Take your ideas and invent something such as a computer game.
Cosmic Thinkers combines technology and the arts in creative computer
programming classes for kids and teens. Classes in gaming and
multimedia design, as well as an ongoing community-oriented
programming club, are offered at the Laguna Beach studio in the

BRIDGE CLUB
The Round Robin Bridge Club, sponsored by the Woman’s Club of
Laguna Beach, holds bridge games from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. every

CLASSES
The Laguna Beach Emergency Communications Team of FCC-licensed
amateur radio operators holds monthly meetings and free amateur
