UC Irvine men’s tennis coach Steve Clark announced his resignation Tuesday after 14 seasons.
Clark said he would move to Spokane, Wash., with his wife and three children.
“Having been the longest-serving tennis coach at UCI, I thought I would never leave,” Clark said in a press release. “But when all is said and done, will I look back and wish I had worked more or spent more time with my kids? I have chosen my kids.”
Under Clark, UCI won Big West Conference titles in 1993 and 2005 and reached the NCAA tournament in 1995, 1996, 1997 and 2005.
Clark was an assistant coach at UCI in 1987, 1990 and 1991 before becoming the coach at Texas Tech. He returned in 1992 after Greg Patton left for Boise State.
