A Huntington Beach bicyclist died Saturday, four days after a car hit him from behind on Warner Avenue, authorities said.
Police responded to the area near Warner and Springdale Street at 5:27 p.m. Oct. 13 after receiving a call about the crash.
Authorities found an injured 29-year-old man, whose name was not released, lying on the street with a damaged bicycle nearby. The man was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where he was admitted in critical condition and later died of his injuries, police said.
According to an initial investigation, the bicyclist was headed east on Warner when a 2012 Toyota Prius also traveling east hit him from behind. The vehicle’s driver was not arrested or cited, and alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash, police said.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Huntington Beach police Investigator Robert Barr at (714) 536-5666 or Investigator Josh Page at (714) 536-5670.
