Reporting from Dallas — There were cheers for DeAndre Jordan on Wednesday night inside American Airlines Center.
They came as a result of his misfortune, of course.
Jordan missed a jump hook early in the first quarter of the Clippers’ game against the Dallas Mavericks, and the fans roared their approval regarding the player who had famously spurned them this summer in free agency.
When Jordan threw down a two-handed dunk off a lob shortly thereafter, the fans resumed the booing they commenced from pretty much the moment they entered the arena.
Jordan stepped to the free-throw line and was booed in pregame warm-ups, a sign this game was going to be a little different.
Jordan also was jeered when he was the first player introduced before the game, though the intensity level was a little lower than it might have been because there were still scores of empty seats inside American Airlines Center shortly before tip-off.
J.J. Redick’s second three-pointer gave the Clippers a 15-14 lead over the Mavericks midway through the first quarter.
