Reporting from New York — With the Dodgers facing possible elimination Tuesday, Yasiel Puig will return to the starting lineup in Game 4 of their National League division series against the New York Mets at Citi Field.
Puig will play right field and bat sixth for the Dodgers, who trail the best-of-five series, two games to one.
The former All-Star played in only two major league games over the last five weeks of the regular season, as he was sidelined with a strained hamstring.
In the first three games of the NLDS, Puig was limited to two pinch-hit at-bats. He struck out both times.
Puig will be part of an entirely right-handed-hitting outfield that will oppose Mets rookie left-hander Steven Matz.
Enrique Hernandez will start in center field and Justin Ruggiano in left.
Left-handed-hitting Andre Ethier and Carl Crawford, who started the first three games of the series, will move to the bench.
Rookie Corey Seager will return to shortstop, where Jimmy Rollins started in Game 3.
