AT THE PLATE: Hanley Ramirez hit his 11th home run, a two-run blast in the third inning. Ramirez has driven in 27 runs in his last 31 games. Matt Kemp added a solo home run in the fourth to increase the Dodgers’ lead to 3-0. Carlos Triunfel, who was recently called up from triple A to add depth to the infield, added a valuable insurance run when he hit a solo home run in the seventh inning after coming in for Ramirez.
ON THE MOUND: Zack Greinke ended a three-start winless streak by limiting the Rockies to one run and six hits over six innings. Greinke walked two and struck out five. The Rockies closed their deficit to 3-2 in the seventh inning when Corey Dickerson doubled off Ramirez’s right hand and drove in Josh Rutledge.
MEDICAL REPORT: Justin Turner wasn’t in the lineup but is recovered from the strained calf that limited his availability in the last week. … Juan Uribe is expected to start a minor league rehabilitation assignment later this week.
BONUS BABY: First-round pick Grant Holmes signed with the Dodgers and received a bonus of more than $2.4 million, according to a person familiar with the situation who spoke under the condition of anonymity. Holmes, 18, is a hard-throwing right-hander from South Carolina who has drawn comparisons to Chad Billingsley and Matt Cain.
UP NEXT: Clayton Kershaw (6-2, 2.93) will face the Rockies and Jorge De La Rosa (6-5, 4.12) at Dodger Stadium at 7 p.m. On the air: SportsNet LA; Radio: 570, 1020.
