Baseball: Changes likely for City Section semifinals
- Share via
With several schools still involved in the City Section baseball playoffs having graduation next week, City Section Commissioner John Aguirre said he may have to change the scheduled dates for the semifinal games if there are any conflicts. A final decision is expected Saturday.
Banning and Narbonne, still alive in the Division I, have graduation on Wednesday, the day of the Division I semifinals at USC. Three schools in Division III have graduation next week.
The City Section is using USC for semifinals on Tuesday and Wednesday, with the Division III final on Thursday at USC.
Aguirre said he doesn’t want to make parents choose between attending a graduation or attending a baseball game.
One issue is that if Aguirre has teams play on different days, an extra day rest could be an advantage for a team playing in the final.
Dodger Stadium is the site next Saturday’s Division I and II championship games. That will not change.
