Baseball: It’s impressive group of freshmen pitchers at UCLA

UCLA Coach John Savage knows his high school pitchers, and he appears to have struck gold again in his newest group of freshmen.
His 11-man recruiting class was ranked No. 6 in the nation by Collegiate Baseball News, and it’s the pitchers expected to lead the way.
Impressive in early season workouts have been Brian Gadsby (Crescenta Valley), Justin Hooper (De La Salle), Jack Ralston (Hart), Kyle Molnar (Aliso Niguel) and Jonathan Olsen (Damien).
Several figure to help replace major-league draft picks James Kaprielian and David Berg.
Savage said they will be a “very good” freshmen pitching class.
In other news, pitcher Nathan Hadley, a Loyola grad who didn’t pitch last season as a freshman because of shoulder issues, is healthy, Savage said.
