Baseball: Jake Taylor grand slam leads Chino Hills in Boras Classic

A first inning grand slam by Jake Taylor powered Chino Hills past Great Oak, 5-2, on Saturday in an opening game of the Boras Classic. Aaron Dominguez got the win for Chino Hills (10-1).
Mitch Kemp had three hits and three RBIs in Temecula Valley’s 9-5 win over Cypress. Vista Murrieta defeated Bishop Amat, 9-5. J.T. McLellan had three hits and three RBIs. Benny Blackwell had two hits and three RBIs.
Glendora scored five runs in the top of the seventh to defeat Granite Hills, 5-1. Caleb Watkins had a double and triple and Eric Flores allowed one run in six innings. Valencia defeated Grossmont, 2-1. Keston Hiura had two hits. JSerra defeated San Fernando, 8-2. Parker Joe Robinson struck out 10 in 4 2/3 innings and had three RBIs.
Mater Dei defeated Gardena Serra, 16-2. David Clawson hit a grand slam. Josh Stephen hit two home runs. Here’s link for second-round matchups.
In other games, Chatsworth got a dramatic walk-off grand slam from Micah Ortiz in the bottom of the ninth inning to defeat Newbury Park, 7-3.
Albee Weiss had six RBIs in Agoura’s 16-0 win over North Torrance.
Taft defeated Camarillo, 7-6. Servite defeated Utah Viewmont, 9-0, behind Michael Flynn, who threw five no-hit innings. Mission Viejo defeated Claremont, 7-2.
Warren swept a doubleheader from Santa Fe, 2-1, and 5-4. Alan Trejo struck out 13 in the first game. Evan Holmes had a two-run pinch-hit single in the second game.
Isaac Gutierrez threw a three-hitter in Sun Valley Poly’s 2-1 win over Calabasas.
Cleveland defeated San Pedro, 10-3. JD Allen had two doubles and four RBIs. Birmingham defeated Venice, 5-4. Steven Rothhammer had two hits and three RBIs.
Westlake defeated Granada Hills, 8-3. Blake Robbins had three hits and Luke Dykstra added two hits.
El Segundo defeated Los Osos, 1-0. Tanner Stevens threw the shutout.
Andrew Quintero threw a complete game and Riverside North scored two runs in the seventh to defeat Santa Margarita, 3-2. Griffin Canning threw a one-hitter in Santa Margarita’s 3-0 second-game win over North.
Long Beach Wilson defeated Cathedral, 15-2. Steve Castro had three hits and Mickey Miladinovich had four RBIs.
Sierra Canyon lost to Sisters of Oregon, 4-1. Oregon-bound Joey Morgan threw a four-hitter.
