Baseball: JSerra’s Royce Lewis is much in demand

When you’re the Trinity League player of the year as a sophomore, you’re pretty good.
And that’s third baseman Royce Lewis of JSerra.
“Everybody wants him,” Coach Brett Kay said.
Lewis is taking his time in making a college decision. At a time when JV players are making college commitments having never played a varsity game, Lewis is being patient.
“He’s taking his time like the old days,” Kay said.
UCLA, Arizona State, UC Irvine and Cal State Fullerton have been making strong recruiting bids.
Kay said during Area Code Games tryouts, Lewis hit the ball over the fence at USC five times in five at-bats. He will play in the underclassman game of the Area Code Games next month.
UCLA Coach John Savage was at the JSerra-Sherman Oaks Notre Dame summer game recently.
Lewis is a popular junior-to-be for college recruiters.
