Baseball: Kolby Allard is getting ready for memorable 2015

Since I’m in San Clemente for a Southern Section championship football game tonight, did you really think I wouldn’t check to see how the No. 1 pitcher in California was doing?
Left-hander Kolby Allard is ranked as the No. 7 prospect for the 2015 baseball draft, and he was lifting weights and helping bring in Christmas trees on Friday while hanging out with teammates. He doesn’t seem fazed one bit by what the new year could have in store for him and his teammates.
“I just go out on the baseball field and try to have fun,” he said.
With a fastball in the mid-90s and being left-handed, Allard is going to be closely watched this spring. He looks ready for the onslaught of scouts and reporters ahead. He’s a 17-year-old with big dreams.
