Baseball: Pitcher Michael Townsend of Los Alamitos commits to UCLA

Senior pitcher Michael Townsend of Los Alamitos has committed to UCLA.
He’s an example of a player who has patiently waited his turn to get recognized.
He was primarily a spot starter on the mound while also being an all-league outfielder two seasons ago as a sophomore. Because Los Alamitos had some veteran pitchers, not until this coming season will he become a potential ace. He is throwing in the 90s mph.
During the summer, he was showing off good velocity and was seen at an Area Code tryout, Coach Matt Nunez said.
“This is how it should happen,” Nunez said. “People trust in the process.”
