Baseball: UCLA signees Peter Lambert, Kolby Allard show off their stuff

UCLA Coach John Savage got commitments long ago from pitchers Peter Lambert of San Dimas and Kolby Allard of San Clemente, but the pros figure to have a big say whether either ends up in Westwood.
Lambert struck out 13 and threw a three-hitter on Friday to lift San Dimas past South Hills, 5-0.
Allard struck out five in three innings in San Clemente’s 7-1 win over Edison. Lucas Herbert hit a home run.
Defending Division 1 champion Santa Margarita opened with a 7-1 win over Anaheim. Nick Meyer had two doubles.
Nick Pratto threw a shutout with zero walks and Josh Stephen hit a two-run home run in Mater Dei’s 4-0 win over Redlands East Valley.
St. Francis defeated Bell Gardens, 26-0, with Charles Bednar going three for three with three RBI.
Jeff Lim had three hits in Cypress’ 18-0 win over Yorba Linda.
Glendora defeated Don Lugo, 10-4, to advance to the Don Lugo final. Nick Kaye had four hits. Nolan Collett had three RBI.
Narbonne defeated South Torrance, 3-0. Daniel Rocha struck out 10 and had two hits. Isaiah Flowers added a home run and two RBI.
Mira Costa defeated San Pedro, 4-2. Fulton College Prep (6-1) defeated St. Genevieve, 8-1. Luis Soto went four for four. El Segundo defeated Banning, 9-0. Noah Bergren hit a two-run home run. Hunter Lewis had a home run, including two hits.
Great Oak and Torrey Pines tied, 3-3, after 11 innings. Drake Makkers threw four innings of scoreless relief.
Corona Santiago stayed unbeaten with a 16-2 win over El Rancho. Freshman Brice Turang hit for the cycle and had five RBI. He’s 12 for 17 on the season.
Roosevelt defeated North Hollywood, 4-2. Long Beach Millikan improved to 3-0 with a 3-1 win over Woodbridge.
