Boys’ basketball: Fairfax unveils freshman Robert McRae

Defending City Section Division I champion Fairfax lost All-City guards Lindsey Drew and Lorne Currie to graduation, but don’t feel sorry for the Lions. They unveiled a promising 6-foot-2 freshman, Robert McRae, on Saturday at the Mater Dei tournament.
Let’s just say Coach Harvey Kitani liked what he saw.
“He’s going to be a good player,” Kitani said. “He does a little of everything.”
Fairfax defeated Santa Margarita, 48-47, while playing without Donald Gipson, the player Kitani thinks will be the best in the City Section next season.
Gipson is recovering from knee surgery. He picked up a scholarship offer from Loyola Marymount earlier this week.
Fairfax will be in action at the Maranatha tournament that begins on June 15 and 16 and at the Fairfax tournament staring on June 22.
