Boys’ basketball: Ira Lee is almost ready to play for Crossroads

Crossroads is 7-0 and additional help could be coming soon.
Ira Lee, a 6-foot-8 senior who signed with Arizona and used to play for Sierra Canyon before moving up north to play for Prolific Prep, is back practicing for Crossroads and could be cleared soon by his doctor to play in a game.
He had shoulder surgery in August. He is cleared by the Southern Section to play for Crossroads, which also added Shareef O’Neal from Windward. When O’Neal and Lee get to play together, Crossroads could become a formidable challenger to Sierra Canyon in league play.
“He’s a grown man,” Crossroads Coach Chad Beeten said. “He’s one of the toughest kids. He can score, he can rebound.”
Lee won’t play this week when Crossroads travels for a tournament in Las Vegas in the Tarkanian Classic.
He certainly would be excited to return by Jan. 4 for a game against Sierra Canyon, a school he played for as a freshman and sophomore and briefly as a junior.
