It was the kind of performance that leaves a lasting impression, and few will forget what junior guard Lonzo Ball accomplished on Saturday night in helping Chino Hills defeat Corona Centennial, 62-51, in the championship game of the Division I Southern California Regional at The Pyramid.
He scored 26 points, had 15 rebounds, five assists, three blocks and eight steals.
“I think he’s going to play in the NBA for a long time,” Centennial Coach Josh Giles said. “I wish he was graduating.”
Brother LiAngelo Ball added 21 points.
Centennial had four players foul out. Jordan Griffin finished with 20 points.
Chino Hills lost in last year’s regional final.
“I know how losing feels and I didn’t like that feeling,” Ball said. “I didn’t want to experience that again, and I came out here and gave it my all.”
