Boys’ basketball: Serigne Athj makes impression for 0-8 Birmingham

Birmingham is 0-8 in the West Valley League, but that didn’t prevent Granada Hills Coach Don Loperena from saying that the best player he’s seen in the league all season is 6-foot-4 junior Serigne Athj of Birmingham.
In his latest performance, Athj scored 28 points against the Highlanders.
Athj is athletic and can shoot from the perimeter, Loperena said.
“You don’t see that much,” Loperena said.
Athj has had games of 28 points against Palisades, 24 against Leuzinger and 30 against Eastside.
