Cross country: Sarah Baxter wins her fourth consecutive individual title

Perfection is hard to do, but don’t tell that to senior Sarah Baxter of Simi Valley.
Baxter, who announced Oregon as her college choice earlier this week, won her fourth consecutive Southern Section individual girls’ cross country championship on Saturday, winning the Division 2 race in 16:21 at Mt. San Antonio College. She helped Simi Valley win the team title.
Great Oak won the Division 1 girls’ title behind sophomore Destiny Collins, who won in 17:10.
In Division 1 boys, sophomore Jake Ogden of Dana Hills edged Loyola’s Robert Brandt, 14:41 to 14:43. Downey Warren won the team title.
Garrett Corcoran of Villa Park won the Division 2 boys’ race in 14:45. Saugus won the team title.
David Luna of Indio recorded the fastest boys’ time of the day in winning the Division 3 title in 14:33. Brea Olinda won the team title.
In Division 3 girls, Palos Verdes won the team title. Bethan Knights of Northwood ran 16:39 to win the individual title.
