Football: Brock Johnson delivers for unbeaten Mission Viejo (9-0)
If quarterbacks are judged by wins and losses, Brock Johnson of Mission Viejo deserves to stand at the top of any list.
He’s been the leader for Mission Viejo (9-0, 3-0), which won its 21st consecutive game on Friday night, a 48-20 victory over previously unbeaten San Juan Hills (7-1, 1-1).
Johnson, the son of offensive coordinator and former standout quarterback Bret Johnson, completed 17 of 20 passes for 311 yards and two touchdowns. The Diablos showed off a new star in sophomore receiver Austin Osborne, who caught seven passes for 156 yards and had a kickoff return for a touchdown.
Mission Viejo is ranked No. 1 in the West Valley Division and there’s no sign the defending champion Diablos are anywhere close to giving up their crown, let alone getting beat with Johnson at the controls of the offense.
