Football: City Section looking for a few good blockers
- Share via
In the era of read option and spread offenses, it’s still the blockers up front who can have a huge impact during a game, and in the City Section, the hunt is on for a few top linemen.
Kenneth Davis, a 5-foot-11, 285-pound senior at Crenshaw, is expected to be a two-way standout for the Cougars. He hung tough last season when the Cougars were facing the likes of Oaks Christian, Westlake and Narbonne. Things won’t get much easier with nonleague games against Long Beach Poly and St. John Bosco.
Dylan Urbaez, a 6-6, 265-pound junior at Fairfax, has displayed lots of promise on the field and in the weight room. South Gate returns All-City lineman Ramon Zarate.
Eric Munz is 6-0, 225-pound returning offensive tackle for Sylmar. Bernstein has high hopes for 6-2, 280-pound sophomore John Mercado.
Venice has a pair of returning offensive guards in 6-2, 280-pound Clemente Luna and 6-3, 285-pound John DeWig.
