Jon Mack, who used to be the football coach at Encino Crespi and Ventura St. Bonaventure, took up a new challenge on Sunday -- running and finishing in the L.A. Marathon.
“I questioned his sanity,” said his friend, Sherman Oaks Notre Dame assistant coach Jeff Kraemer. “I asked, ‘What kind of flowers do you want at your funeral?’”
Said Mack: “It was the hardest thing I’ve ever done.”
Mack completed the race in 6 hours, 37 minutes and 22 seconds. He finished at No. 17,725 out of 21,492 runners.
“I’m feeling the pain,” said Mack, who’s now an assistant principal at Oxnard Santa Clara.
