Football: Gardena Serra players looking forward to ‘warm reception’ from Bishop Amat fans
- Share via
It’s the battle for first place in the Mission League on Friday night when Gardena Serra travels to Bishop Amat, one of the toughest places to play.
But Serra players love the challenge of taking on the Lancers’ fans.
“They are so warm,” Coach Scott Altenberg said. “I feel the love every time I walk into that place.”
Altenberg was joking. He knows how passionate Bishop Amat fans truly are. But his players embrace the challenge.
“Our kids eat it up,” he said.
Serra (4-3, 3-0) has won four consecutive games since an 0-3 start. Quarterback Jalani Eason has come out strong.
Bishop Amat is 5-2 and 2-1.
