Football: It’s a Nordhoff vs. Oak Park showdown on Friday

The No. 2- and No. 3-ranked teams in the Northwest Division collide in a Tri-Valley League showdown on Friday when Ojai Nordhoff (6-0) plays at Oak Park (6-1).
The game features a battle of quarterbacks.
Oak Park’s Chandler Whitbord, a senior transfer from Oaks Christian who rarely played last season while sitting behind Brandon Dawkins, has flourished with his opportunity at Oak Park. He has passed for 1,682 yards and 26 touchdowns. He also has rushed for 718 yards and six touchdowns.
Matt Byer has caught 20 touchdown passes for the Eagles.
Nordhoff’s Tanner Workman has passed for 1,139 yards and 15 touchdowns.
Nordhoff has played a much tougher schedule than the Eagles, with victories over Thousand Oaks and Sierra Canyon.
