Football: Monroe turns to 5-foot-8 quarterback Luis Dorame

Don’t tell Monroe Coach Don Senegal that someone small can’t play quarterback, because he played QB at 5-foot-8 during his days at Sun Valley Poly.

Now 5-8 Luis Dorame is in his third season as a starter for the Vikings, and Dorame has Monroe at 2-0.

He has passed for 432 yards and three touchdowns. He also has run for three touchdowns.

“He’s one of the smartest kids on campus,” Senegal said. “He’s a football player. Size doesn’t matter.”

Dorame has a 3.9 grade-point average.

Monroe is trying to go 3-0 against Panorama on Friday.
