There’s a quarterback lots of people have seemingly forgotten about. Perhaps it’s because he disappeared last October after suffering a torn ACL to his left knee that required surgery in November. Perhaps it’s because people mistakenly thought he was a senior.
Whatever the reason, people better start paying attention to Nick Moore of Hart. He’s back, healthy and ready for a big senior season come fall. He has grown to 6 feet 1.
“I feel good,” he said. “I feel like nothing has happened. If it was up to me, I wouldn’t be wearing a knee brace. My coaches want me to wear it and my dad wants me.”
Before he was injured, the versatile Moore had passed for 1,307 yards and 13 touchdowns and rushed for 420 yards and six touchdowns. He was cleared six weeks ago to resume practices.
“He’s looking great,” Coach Mike Herrington said. “He’s one of the top quarterbacks in the Southland. I’ve checked a couple of website lists of top quarterbacks and he’s not on the lists. He’s head and shoulders above half of them.”
Moore’s ability to run made him very dangerous, but he’s trying to show even more versatility this fall.
“I’m hoping for the same things but a little more polish in the pocket,” he said.
He can always ask for a little help from his big brother, NFL quarterback Matt Moore.
