Lacrosse: 92 boys teams, 76 girls teams in Southern Section

Lacrosse is still lacking the 117 teams to become an official Southern Section championship sport.
There are 92 boys teams and 76 girls teams for the upcoming season.
It’s a bit of a surprise that lacrosse has failed to reach 117 after launching in 2007. That’s the number needed for boys or girls.
Thom Simmons, who helps run lacrosse for the Southern Section, said the lack of teams in the Inland Empire is one reason for the failure to reach the required number to become an official championship sport.
