QB Kyler Murray is Gatorade athlete of the year

Texas A&M-bound quarterback Kyler Murray from Allen High in Texas was selected the Gatorade male athlete of the year during an announcement on Tuesday night in Los Angeles.
The 5-foot-11 Murray led his team to a 16-0 record while passing for 4,713 yards and 54 touchdowns.
Among the players he beat out was track standout Michael Norman from Vista Murrieta.
The female athlete of the year is Candace Hill, a sophomore sprinter from Rockdale County High School in Conyers, Ga. She became the first high school girl to break the 11-second barrier in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.98 seconds.
