Rockies put Carlos Gonzalez on 15-day disabled list

The Colorado Rockies put All-Star outfielder Carlos Gonzalez on the 15-day disabled list because of an inflamed left index finger that has bothered him most of the season.
Gonzalez’s finger has recently become so swollen that he struggles to hold on to the bat. He’s hitting only .255 this season.
To take Gonzalez’s place on the roster, the Rockies recalled infielder Ryan Wheeler from triple-A Colorado Springs.

The Detroit Tigers don’t expect shortstop Jose Iglesias to return this season from stress fractures in both legs.
General Manager Dave Dombrowski said little has changed since spring training, when the team realized Iglesias would be out for several months.
The San Diego Padres recalled infielder Jace Peterson from triple-A El Paso and optioned right-hander Jesse Hahn to double-A San Antonio.
Peterson batted .174 in 10 games, including seven starts, in his first stint with the Padres.
Hahn lasted 2 2-3 innings in his major league debut in a 4-1 loss to Pittsburgh on Tuesday night.
The Texas Rangers put reliever Alexi Ogando on the 15-day DL because of inflammation in his right elbow and recalled left-handed reliever Aaron Poreda from triple-A Round Rock.
