Ducks’ Teemu Selanne could be out two weeks after injury to mouth

Ducks forward Teemu Selanne was sent home to Orange County on Wednesday to undergo oral surgery after being struck in the upper mouth by a high stick in the team’s 3-2 victory Tuesday night in Philadelphia.
A Ducks spokesman said Selanne has “several missing teeth” and required “40 stitches” to close the wound after being struck by Flyers defenseman Luke Schenn. Selanne, 43, who announced previously this will be his final season, is expected to be sidelined for two weeks.
The Ducks, in the midst of a season-long eight-game trip that stops in Boston on Thursday night, have won three straight away from Honda Center despite a rash of injuries.
The team went on the road after forward Dustin Penner suffered a concussion in an Oct. 20 victory over Dallas and goalie Viktor Fasth had a lower-body injury in practice on Oct. 17.
During the trip, centers Saku Koivu (head) and Mathieu Perreault (wrist) have been injured and forward Jakob Silfverberg is sidelined four to six weeks after being slashed Friday in Ottawa, breaking his hand.
The team has been without defensemen Sheldon Souray (wrist) and Luca Sbisa (ankle) all season, and forward Matt Beleskey broke a thumb last month and might be able return in the middle of November.
