A 16-rider field is set for the Monster Energy World Speedway Invitational motorcycle races Saturday night in the City of Industry.
The event, which starts at 7:30 p.m., features flat-track motorcycle racing at the roof-covered Grand Arena in the Industry Hills Expo Center.
Among the entrants are riders from the United States, Great Britain, Sweden, Denmark and Poland. The American riders include Billy Hamill, Greg Hancock, Charlie Venegas and Billy Janniro.
The event’s grand marshal is Bruce Penhall, a former speedway motorcycle racing champion who’s now a member of the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America.
The races’ format includes four-lap heats under which the riders collect points in an effort to reach the two semifinal races and ultimately the final event that determines the winner.
