Game 4 of the American League Championship Series between the New York Yankees and Detroit Tigers has been postponed because of inclement weather.
Though it was not raining at the time, MLB announced around 6:15 p.m. Pacific time that the game was postponed to “preserve the integrity of an uniterrupted nine inning game.”
[Updated, 8:55 p.m.: Game 4 has been rescheduled for 1 p.m. Pacific time Thursday, when the forecast predicts a 70% chance of rain.]
The Tigers lead the best-of-seven series, 3-0.
Detroit is scheduled to start hard-throwing right-hander Max Scherzer while the Yankees will counter with ace left-hander CC Sabathia.
