Ex-Royals slugger Mike Sweeney, Angels coach Dino Ebel to hold clinic
- Share via
Angels bench coach Dino Ebel and former major leaguer Mike Sweeney will be among the instructors at a baseball clinic this Sunday at the Iron Spikes Training facility in Upland.
Milwaukee Brewers minor leaguer Jordan Swaydan, former St. Louis Cardinals minor leaguer Mike Breslin, major league scout Bob Beck and strength coach Chris Mehlfeld, who has worked extensively with Angels slugger Albert Pujols, will also be on hand.
The clinic, for players ages 8 and up, will run from 6 to 9 p.m. and cost $75 per player. Proceeds will go toward the building of the new Bob Beck Field at Sweeney’s alma mater, Ontario High School, and the Brian Brewer Foundation, which funds college scholarships for U.S. military personnel.
Sweeney, a five-time All-Star who played 12 of his 16 major league seasons with the Kansas City Royals, is holding the clinic in honor of his father, who will begin treatment for esophageal cancer next week. Get more information and sign up online.
