Brian Hoyer reportedly will sign with Houston Texans

It appears Brian Hoyer’s stay with the Cleveland Browns is over.
Hoyer is expected to sign a three-year deal with the Houston Texans after the NFL free agency period begins Tuesday, according to multiple reports.
Hoyer served as the Browns’ starting quarterback for most of the season, passing for 3,326 yards and 12 touchdowns in 14 games last season. However, he struggled in the second half of the season and temporarily lost his starting job to Johnny Manziel as the Browns staggered to six losses in their final seven games.
Hoyer won’t be the only former Tom Brady backup playing in Houston. The Texans are also planning to re-sign backup quarterback Ryan Mallette. According to NFL.com, Mallette’s new deal is for two years and $7 million.
With Mallette and Hoyer set to join the Texans, starting quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick’s spot on the team could be in jeopardy. Fitzpatrick passed for 2,483 yards and 17 touchdowns last season.
If Fitzpatrick goes, Mallette and Hoyer will battle for the starting job.
