Pedro Munhoz will face Jeff Curran in a battle for the vacant bantamweight title as the Resurrection Fighting Alliance will make its Los Angeles debut tonight at 5 p.m. at the StubHub Center.
A 26-year-old native of Sao Paulo, Brazil, Munhoz calls L.A. home and fights out of the famed Black House MMA gym alongside UFC greats Anderson Silva and Lyoto Machida.
“Jeff is a great fighter and a perfect opponent for me,” Munhoz (9-0). “He is well-rounded, has a lot of experience, and has fought for every top promotion in the world. We both want that RFA title and have styles that will make this a great fight, so I’m excited for it.”
Curran (34-15-1), like Munhoz, is a black belt in jiu-jitsu and he is noted for being the only man to ever fight for the six major MMA promotions: UFC, PRIDE, WFA, IFL, WEC, and StrikeForce.
And, in a nice surprise, the fights tonight will be held in the famous UFC Octagon, which RFA leased the rights to for tonight’s event.
